Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)
Individuals inadmissible to Canada for various reasons, including on criminal and medical grounds, could enter and remain in Canada by applying for a temporary resident permit (TRP). A TRP is issued if the applicant has a compelling reason to enter Canada, and the need to enter Canada outweighs the risk posed to Canadian society.
Suppose you are a TRP holder with medical inadmissibility. In that case, you may qualify to apply for permanent residency after staying in Canada for three consecutive years, provided you meet the other requirements.
